B'Nai Israel Synagogue is a diverse congregation on a new shared campus that is home to religious instruction and expression. Caldwell & Walsh constructed the 27,000 square foot campus for the Jewish Communities of Western Connecticut and B’Nai Israel. The facility includes areas of worship, classrooms, kosher and non-kosher kitchens, senior citizen and youth lounges, a large function hall for multi-purpose uses, and offices. The synagogue, a steel framed structure on the south side of the campus, resembles a large barn with an attached silo that allows natural light in while the congregation worships. A feature of the project is a tall archway made of flecked sandstone, hand-cut from a quarry in Israel, that stands at the main entrance.
