Though this 5,000 square foot child day care facility was a standard type of build-out, there was an extremely tight timeframe to get it open. The project started in mid-December, 2004 and was ready for occupancy by the end of January, 2005. Despite this very condensed timeframe, all of the many Connecticut State daycare rules and requirements still had to be fully complied with. Since this was a design/build project, Caldwell & Walsh was responsible for coordinating and ensuring that all requirements were met, such as: hand washing facilities, children's group bathrooms, strict egress and fire separation requirements, ventilation requirements, food storage and preparation areas, water quality and temperature specifications, and specific space requirements per State code for classroom areas and outdoor play areas.
